shot definitions and examples

match on action shot - is where one shot alternates from first shot to the second shot, however it shows two different looks on the same action.

shot/reverse shot - is a shot which breaks the 180 degrees rule, it shows two characters having a conversation and is usually a repetitive cut between two oppose 'over the shoulder' shots.

180 degrees rule - is when you have an imaginary straight line in which it shows two subjects with a left to right relationship which cannot be changed without going past the line because the relationship being changed.
